Life started in 1974. I grew up in Istanbul, Turkey. In late 1996, I moved to Columbus, Ohio. Got my masters degree at Ohio State and moved to Silicon Valley
in June 2000 to exercise my passion on software.
I have variety of interests and hobbies. I like art. I used to spend hours everyday painting pictures. I like to play chess. I
like to travel. I have been to various countries and have met different people. I like soccer. I dance with the ball. I guess it is a gift but somehow teammates still
want me to be the goalkeeper*s* I used to swim. I was asked to run for the olympic team but I was not in the mood... I enjoy cooking, but I don't follow
cookbooks, they kill creativity.
I like most kinds of music except rap and metal. "My Way" from Sinatra is a favorite of mine. I guess I am an Elvis fan as well. I have tons of New Age CDs. I like ABBA. I listen to oldies in my car. Country is ok. I love to listen classical music,
especially Mozart and Strauss at work. I like to sing in the bathroom and in my car as I drive, sounds better if I don't hear.
I never forget the movie called "Once upon a time in America" with Robert De Niro. I like to laugh so I have to mention I like comedies. I really enjoy nature,
rivers, lakes, beautiful things... I like the old movie "The Blue Lagoon". But I have to admit I loved the "Matrix". Perhaps not all the ugly visual effects etc but
the imaginative power of the people who worked on the story.
I like peaceful moments. I enjoy driving in the country. I can sit on the beach with a good book all afternoon. I don't like crowded places, bars,
discos where they play loud music and dance as if suffering from poison gas. A nice dinner with friends suits me better. I drink socially. I never smoke.
In October 1996, I came to the US to study. Got my masters degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering. I worked in Engineering Research Center
for Net Shape Manufacturing during my stay at the Ohio State University where I also met my wife Wenfang.
I loved developing software since I started programming many years ago. At last I decided to work in the software industry. For a year, I worked in Cloudscape / Informix developing the user interface for our database management system. I now work for IBM. I worked in DB2 Everyplace which
was supposed to be our next generation mobile data synchronization server :-) Then moved to DB2 XML, and nowadays I work in pureQuery to make Java Database Access a breeze.
Meanwhile, after years of dating, Wenfang and I decided it is time to get married and we did so in April 2004:
